Local impact in Northwest Louisiana

Where reentry support continues — after release.

Compassion for Lives works in the Shreveport–Bossier community with people returning from incarceration, veterans, at-risk youth, and families rebuilding stability — carrying the same practical support facilities start before release into the days and months that follow.

Our programs

Practical support people can use after release

These local programs are the follow-through behind the reentry model: support for stability, skills, work, recovery, and family life after custody.

Stabilize

Mental health & substance abuse

Life-skills education — anger management, communication, coping, and parenting — plus Living in Balance, an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral substance-abuse curriculum focused on relapse prevention.

Focus: at-risk youth & adults building coping and communication skills.

Guide

Mentoring & reentry

One-on-one mentoring for men returning from incarceration, transitional housing through local housing and recovery partners, and connections to local education — walking with people as they re-enter the community.

Build

Education & GED / HiSET

Online GED and HiSET classes with a live instructor, career assessments, and hands-on help navigating financial aid — so learning actually leads somewhere.

Ready to start? Contact us to register for GED training through our education program.

Prepare

Job readiness

The soft skills employers actually hire for: communication, professionalism, timeliness, and working well with supervisors and coworkers — the difference between getting a job and keeping one.

For: anyone preparing to enter or return to the workforce.

Restore

Parenting & family support

Our Parent Support Program strengthens parenting skills and connects families to Medicaid and SNAP application help — so households have the stability and resources they need to thrive.

For: parents and families rebuilding a strong home.

Where release support continues

Local work makes the reentry bridge real

Facilities can prepare people before release, but stability is built in the days and months that follow. Our local programs help participants connect to practical next steps after custody.

Stabilize the immediate need

We listen for urgent barriers like housing, documents, transportation, benefits, recovery support, or family pressure.

Match the program path

The right starting point might be mentoring, online GED and HiSET classes with a live instructor, job readiness, parenting support, or another referral.

Keep the relationship moving

The work continues through check-ins, classes, partner connections, and practical encouragement when the process gets hard.

Trust signals

The community side is part of the facility solution

The support people need after release cannot happen on paper only. Volunteers, employers, agencies, churches, and service partners help turn a release plan into real stability.

Families and participants

Use the contact form to explain what kind of help is needed and who needs to be connected.

Volunteers and donors

Support can look like mentoring, classroom help, supplies, financial gifts, or opening doors in the community.

Organizations and employers

Partnerships help participants move from a program plan into real opportunities, stable routines, and a stronger support network.

Community partners

A local network around the handoff

Program support works best when facilities, agencies, recovery groups, educators, employers, and service partners move in the same direction.
